Ampullaria sigaretina was named by Lamarck (1804) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; Paris Basin.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Ampullina sigaretina by Morellet and Morellet (1945); it was recombined as Natica sigaretina by Darga (1992); it was recombined as Globularia sigaretina by Herrmannsen (1847), Okan and Hosgor (2008) and Okan and Hosgor (2009).
