Borsonia (Paraborsonia) brassoensis was named by Mansfield (1925) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Trinidad and Tobago.]. Its type specimen is USNM 352661, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS 9212, which is in a Miocene marine siliciclastic in Trinidad and Tobago.
It was recombined as Paraborsonia brassoensis by Woodring (1970) and Hendy et al. (2008).
