Mitra longa couvensis was named by Maury (1925) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocence; Trinidad and Tobago.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Mitra couvensis by Maury (1925); it was recombined as Mitra (Tiara) couvensis by Woodring (1928); it was recombined as Mitra (Tiara) longa couvensis by Woodring (1964); it was recombined as Subcancilla couvensis by Hendy et al. (2008) and Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
