Modulus tamanensis was named by Maury (1925) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Trinidad and Tobago.]. Its type specimen is USNM 352686, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS 8301, which is in a Miocene marine siliciclastic in Trinidad and Tobago.
