Tiara isabella was named by Swainson (1831) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; China.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Cancilla, Tiara.

It was recombined as Cancilla isabella by Swainson (1840); it was recombined as Mitra (Tiara) isabella by Woodring (1964).
