Pleurotoma haitensis was named by Sowerby (1850) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene-Early Pliocene; Caribbean.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Pleuroliria (Polystira) haitensis by Woodring (1970); it was recombined as Polystira haitensis by Woodring (1928) and Hendy et al. (2008).
