Volvaria canaliculata was named by Say (1826) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Recent; Caribbean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Bullina canaliculata by Say (1830); it was recombined as Tornatina canaliculata by Guppy (1874); it was recombined as Retusa canaliculata by Richards (1962); it was recombined as Acteocina canaliculata by Maury (1917), DuBar (1958) and Hendy et al. (2008).
