Defrancia fusiformis was named by Gabb (1873) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Caribbean.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Drillia fusiformis by Maury (1917); it was recombined as Carinodrillia fusiformis by Woodring (1928) and Hendy et al. (2008).
