Glyphostoma dentiferum was named by Gabb (1872) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Dominican Republic.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was corrected as Glyphostoma dentifera by Maury (1917) and Olsson (1922); it was recombined as Glyphostoma (Glyphostoma) dentiferum by Woodring (1970).
