Taxonomy
Cancellaria barretti was named by Guppy (1866) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Caribbean.]. Its type specimen is BMNH G 64069, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cancellaria (Cancellaria) barretti by Woodring (1928), Jung and Petit (1990) and Landau et al. (2007).
