Terebra robusta was named by Hinds (1844) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Panama.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Terebra (Panaterebra).

It was recombined as Terebra (Paraterebra) robusta by Woodring (1928) and Olsson (1964); it was recombined as Terebra (Panaterebra) robusta by Woodring (1970).
