Taxonomy
Pleurotoma bottae was named by Valenciennes (1832) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Eastern Pacific.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Crassispira.

It was recombined as Crassispira (Crassispira) bottae by Woodring (1970); it was recombined as Crassispira bottae by Swainson (1840), Herrmannsen (1847) and Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
