Crassispira aegis was named by Woodring (1928) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Pliocene; Jamaica.]. Its type specimen is USNM 369364, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Crassispira (Crassispira) aegis by Woodring (1970).
