Philbertia (Nannodiella) nana was named by Dall (1918) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Gulf of California.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Philbertia (Nannodiella).

It was recombined as Nannodiella nana by Woodring (1928) and Woodring (1970).
