Taxonomy
Pleurotoma comatotropis was named by Dall (1881). It is extant.

It was recombined as Mangilia comatotropis by Dall (1889); it was recombined as Microdrillia comatotropis by Woodring (1928), Woodring (1970) and Hendy et al. (2008).
