Pleurotoma lymneiformis was named by Woodring (1928) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Indian Ocean.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Daphnella.

It was recombined as Daphnella lymneiformis by Herrmannsen (1847) and Woodring (1970).
