Marginella amina was named by Dall (1896) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Dominican Republic.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Prunum aminum by Nehm (2001); it was recombined as Prunum amina by Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
