Cancellaria macneili was named by Mansfield (1937) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Miocene; Florida.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Cancellaria (Cancellaria) macneili by Woodring (1970); it was recombined as Cancellaria (Pyruclia) macneili by Jung and Petit (1990).
