Cancellaria solida was named by Sowerby (1832) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Recent; Gulf of California-Peru.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Cancellaria (Pyruclia) solida by Olsson (1932), Olsson (1964), Jung and Petit (1990) and Landau et al. (2007); it was misspelled as Cancellaria (Peruclia) solida by Pilsbry and Olsson (1941); it was recombined as Pyruclia solida by Landau and Marques da Silva (2010) and Landau et al. (2012).
