Taxonomy
Cancellaria cibarcola was named by Anderson (1929) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle-Late Micoene; Panama, Colombia.]. Its type specimen is CAS 4643, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is CAS Loc. 325A, between Chorrera and Cibarco [Tubará Fm], which is in a Miocene marine siliciclastic in the Tubará Formation of Colombia.

It was recombined as Cancellaria (Pyruclia) cibarcola by Woodring (1970) and Jung and Petit (1990).
