Cancellaria cassidiformis was named by Sowerby (1832) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Gulf of california-Peru.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Euclia.

It was recombined as Cancellaria (Euclia) cassidiformis by Cossmann (1899), Pilsbry and Olsson (1941), Olsson (1964) and Landau et al. (2007); it was recombined as Euclia cassidiformis by Landau and Marques da Silva (2010), Landau et al. (2012) and Landau et al. (2012).
