Cancellaria propevenusta was named by Mansfield (1930) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Florida.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Cancellaria (Massyla) propevenusta by Woodring (1970) and Landau et al. (2007); it was recombined as Massyla propevenusta by Landau et al. (2012).
