Oliva couvana was named by Maury (1925) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene; Trinidad and Tobago.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Oliva (Oliva) plicata couvana by Woodring (1928); it was recombined as Oliva plicata couvana by Rutsch (1942); it was recombined as Oliva (Oliva) cristobalcoloni couvana by Woodring (1964).
