Marginella clandestina was named by Brochhi (1814) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Recent; Mediterranean.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Cypraeolina.

It was recombined as Cypraeolina clandestina by Cerulli-Irelli (1911).
