Mitra dalli was named by Engerrand and Urbina (1910) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Miocene; Mexico.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Mitra (Tiara) dalli by Woodring (1928) and Woodring (1964); it was recombined as Subcancilla dalli by Hendy et al. (2008).
