Mitra barnardensis was named by Maury (1910) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Florida.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Vexillum (Uromitra) barnardensis by Woodring (1928); it was recombined as Uromitra barnardensis by Hendy et al. (2008).
