Zonulispira was named by Bartsch (1950). It is extant. It is the type genus of Zonulispirinae.

It was assigned to Zonulispirinae by McLean (1971); to Turridae by Todd (2001); and to Pseudomelaniidae by Bouchet et al. (2011).
