Taxonomy
Patella testudinalis was named by Müller (1776) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Arctic western Atlantic.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Patella (Acmaea) testudinalis by Middendorff (1849); it was recombined as Acmaea testudinalis by Verkrüzen (1881); it was recombined as Testudinalia testudinalis by Hendy et al. (2008).
