Strombina caribaea was named by Gabb (1873) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Dominican Republic.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Astyris caribaea by Dall (1903); it was recombined as Sincola (Dorsina) caribaea by Jung (1989).
