Cuspidaria islahispaniolae was named by Maury (1917) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Dominican Republic.]. Its type specimen is PRI 28904, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Cardiomya (Cardiomya) islahispaniolae by Jung (1996).
