Bellifusus was named by Stephenson (1941) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno K Maes-u Sepkoski's reference number: 790]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Fasciolariinae by Sohl (1964), Sohl (1964) and Snyder (2003).
