Drillia haliostrephis was named by Dall (1889) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Mexico.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Carinodrillia (Carinodrillia) haliostrephis by Woodring (1970); it was recombined as Compsodrillia haliostrephis by Hendy et al. (2008).
