Taxonomy
Typhis cercadicus was named by Maury (1917) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Dominican Republic. TYPE SPECIMEN: Now at PRI.]. Its type specimen is Cornell Paleo. Lab. 36813, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Laevityphis (Laevityphis) cercadicus by Keen (1944); it was recombined as Siphonochelus (Siphonochelus) cercadicus by Gertman (1969).
