Murex pauperculus was named by Adams (1850) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Florida, Caribbean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Aspella paupercula by Morris (1973); it was recombined as Dermomurex (Dermomurex) pauperculus by Vokes (1975).
