Bonellitia was named by Jousseaume (1887) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp T Plio Sepkoski's reference number: 909,914]. It is not extant. Its type is Cancellaria bonellii.

It was reranked as Admete (Bonellitia) by Rivera (1957) and Olsson (1964).

It was assigned to Admete by Rivera (1957) and Olsson (1964); to Admetinae by Wilson (1994) and Pacaud and Le Renard (1995); and to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
