Nucula (Acila) isthmica was named by Brown and Pilsbry (1911) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Oligocene-Late Miocene; Caribbean. TYPE: Holotype lost.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 1742, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Acila isthmica by Olsson (1942); it was recombined as Acila (Acila) isthmica by Schenck (1936) and Woodring (1973).
