Acila isthmica burica was named by Olsson (1942) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Costa Rica.]. Its type specimen is PRI 4077, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Acila (Acila) isthmica burica by Woodring (1973).
