Scapharca (Scapharca) donacia was named by Dall (1898) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene-Early Pliocene; Caribbean.]. Its type specimen is USNM 61628, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Barbatia (Diluvarca) donacia by Woodring (1925); it was recombined as Anadara donacia by Butterlin (1961); it was recombined as Anadara (Hawaiarca) donacia by Woodring (1973).
