Astarte lunulata was named by Conrad (1834) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Crassinella lunulata by DuBar (1958), Richards (1962), Woodring (1982) and Massemin et al. (2009).
