Scalaria rupicola was named by Kurtz (1860) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Epitonium rupicolum by Richards (1962); it was recombined as Epitonium rupicola by Hendy et al. (2008).
