Lutraria plicatella was named by Lamarck (1818) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Labiosa plicatella by Richards (1962); it was recombined as Raeta plicata by Miller (1983); it was recombined as Raeta plicatella by Hendy et al. (2008).
