Mangelia stellata was named by Stearns (1872) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Mangilia stellata by Richards (1962); it was recombined as Stellatoma stellata by Hendy et al. (2008).
