Taxonomy
Ulmensia antecedens was named by Ziegler (1998). Its type specimen is SMNS 46327 C1, a mandible (sin. with p4-m3), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Herrlingen 9, which is in a MP 29 fissure fill claystone in Germany.
