Drillia bella was named by Conrad (1862) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Virginia.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 1607, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Carinodrillia bella by Gardner (1948).
