Drillia lissotropis scissurata was named by Dall (1890) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene; Western Atlantic.]. Its type specimen is USNM 97333, a partial shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Syntomodrillia lissotropis scissurata by Gardner (1948).
