Metopaster trichilae trichilae was named by Breton (1992). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Holotype MHNH 8415, paratypes MHNH 8416-8420. It is the type subspecies of Metopaster trichilae.

G. Breton 1992Enlarged ultimate superomarginal plates large, tall, elongated and relatively narrow, typically in contact with five inferomarginals. Abactinal bulge highly developed. Superomarginals tumid and inferomarginals high. Central area with a well-defined narrow depressed margin. Plates of large size, smoothed or rarely with few granule-pits in abradial side. Enlarged ultimate superomarginal plates of with indentation in abactino-distal position, which can modify outline of the adradial surface of articulation with the neighboring plate.
