Taxonomy
Valerymys turoliensis was named by Michaux (1969). It is not extant. Its type specimen is IPMC PA 141, a maxilla (with M1-M2). Its type locality is Los Mansuetos, which is in the Turolian of horizon the Alfambra Formation Spain.
It was recombined as Huerzelerimys turoliensis by Mein et al. (1993) and Martín Suárez and Freudenthal (1993).
