Aglaocetus longifrons

Taxonomy
Idiocetus longifrons was named by Van Beneden (1880) [no type specimen listed in Van Beneden (1880); lectotype after Steeman (2010)]. Its type specimen is lectotype IRScNB CtM 719a-c/769, a partial skull (skull fragment, right periotic, right tympanic), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Deurne (Fort 1), Antwerpen Sands Member, which is in a Langhian/Serravallian open shallow subtidal sandstone in the Berchem Formation of Belgium.

It was recombined as Plesiocetus longifrons by Van Deinse (1931); it was recombined as Aglaocetus longifrons by Steeman (2010).
