Taxonomy
Cypraea henikeni was named by Sowerby (1850) [Lectotype designated by Pflug 1961.]. Its type specimen is BM(NH) G83940, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was corrected as Cypraea henekeni by Maury (1917) and Anderson (1929); it was recombined as Cypraea (Muracypraea) henekeni by Weisbord (1962); it was recombined as Siphocypraea (Muracypraea) henekeni by Olsson (1964); it was recombined as Muracypraea henekeni by Groves (1997), DeVries et al. (2006) and Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
