Solarium nuperum was named by Conrad (1834) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene, Virginia.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Architectonica nuperum by Ward (1993); it was recombined as Architectonica (Pseudotorinia) nupera by Gardner (1948) and Perrilliat and Flores-Guerrero (2011).
